MEET OUR VILLAGE: Summer Challenge Edition

Summer is the season of sunshine, vacations, pool days, later bedtimes, and making memories with our kids. It can also be the season when routines completely disappear.

Between family vacations, camps, travel, extreme DC heat, and trying to keep children entertained for approximately 47 hours a day, it's easy for the healthy habits we've worked so hard to build to take a backseat.

This is exactly what makes our 2nd Annual Summer Challenge participants so remarkable! For 9 weeks this summer, these moms committed to keep (or even add!) their health and wellness to the priority list and set a healthy example of self-care for their families one of the busiest—and most unpredictable—times of the year.

THE CHALLENGE: The challenge was simple: each participant committed to attending at least 9 FIT4MOM classes or as many as she had attended during the previous 9 weeks. Any of the live in-person or virtual classes on our calendar counted for the challenge. Our Run Club moms had the added expectation of exceeding the number of miles they ran in the prior 9 weeks.

The Results Are In: Summer Challenge Moms Came to PLAY

Collectively, our Summer Challenge participants set a goal of 299 classes.

By the end of the challenge, they completed 366 classes - 122% of their collective goal!

That's 67 more classes than they committed to completing, but our favorite stat is that this group of moms did not just maintain their pre-summer class count (191), they bested it by 191%

And our runners brought that same energy to the mileage challenge, completing:

315.34 miles - 131% of their collective mileage goal!

The Summer Challenge gives moms a little extra motivation and accountability to keep moving throughout the summer—and this incredible group didn't just maintain their momentum.

They exceeded it.

Meet the Moms Behind the Leaderboard

This summer's challenge drew moms from every corner of the city and stage of motherhood, including returning participants from 2025 as well as plenty of new moms! Each one selected a leaderboard name that reflected their fitness persona, and the creativity alone deserves an award!

Some of our favorites:

  • AdvancedMaternalRage
  • WonderwallSit
  • GlitterbombMom
  • Cirque Du Sore Legs
  • Pink Warrior Mama
  • MamacitaMoves
  • Plank & Play Mama
  • TourDeForce

The names were cute. The competition was fun. But what we really loved was seeing the consistency.

Week after week, these moms found ways to fit movement into real life—despite vacations, summer schedules, childcare challenges, and everything else that comes with motherhood.

A Special Shoutout to Our Instructor-Challengers and Team!

We also have to recognize two women who took "leading by example" to a whole new level.

Brittney White, aka Strong4Summer, and Katie Bergeron, aka Pink Warrior Mama, weren't just participating in the challenge alongside everyone else. They were also teaching!

Together, Brittney and Katie made 30 classes possible for the rest of the Summer Challenge participants. That is some serious FIT4MOM energy.

We also need to give a special shoutout to Brittney who kept the motivation high in the Whatsapp group all summer long. She and our executive assistant Shane are also responsible for making sure that each participant knew where she stood throughout the challenge.

So Many Moms Went Above and Beyond

Every mom who participated deserves to be celebrated, because committing to yourself during summer is no small thing.

Several challengers blew past their individual goals.

AdvancedMaternalRage completed 16 classes toward a goal of 9—an incredible 178%!

WonderwallSit completed 38 classes toward a goal of 25.

OffDutyTeacher finished 37 classes.

StayFitSummer completed 28 classes toward a goal of 20.

Summer Fun Mama exceeded her goal by reaching 13 classes toward a goal of 9.

And GlitterbombMom completed an impressive 32 classes over the course of the challenge.

The mileage challenge had some particularly impressive performances, too.

Bea completed more than 85 miles—213% of her mileage goal, and Liz logged an incredible 136.18 miles.

The numbers are impressive, but they represent something much bigger than workouts and miles. They represent moms continuing to make themselves a priority.

The Summer Challenge wasn't about being perfect. Nobody needed to work out every day. Nobody had to have a perfect summer routine. The goal was simply to keep moving forward.

To remember that even when life gets busy, a workout can still happen.

Maybe it's a Stroller Strides class before a morning at the pool.

Maybe it's a Body Boost workout while the kids are at camp.

Maybe it's a run squeezed in between vacation plans.

Maybe it's showing up to class when you almost talked yourself out of it.

Every class counted.

Healthy habits aren't built by doing everything perfectly. They're built by continuing to come back—even after a vacation, a busy week, a rough night's sleep, or a stretch when life simply gets in the way.

More Than a Summer Challenge

One of the things we love most about FIT4MOM DC is that our community understands something important: Taking care of yourself isn't selfish.

When moms make time for movement, community, strength, and their own well-being, they're investing in themselves.

And summer gave this group plenty of opportunities to say, "I'll start again in September." Instead, they showed up in June. They showed up in July. They showed up in August. And together, they completed 366 classes and more than 315 miles.

We are SO proud of every mom who participated in the 2nd Annual FIT4MOM DC Summer Challenge:

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for encouraging each other. Thank you for proving that summer doesn't have to mean losing all of your momentum.

And most importantly, thank you for continuing to invest in yourselves.

Because the challenge may officially be over... But the habits, strength, friendships, and momentum you built this summer are just getting started.

Congratulations, Summer Challenge Moms! 🎉💪☀️
