Meet Your Village: Kainaz

This month, we’re so excited to introduce you to Kainaz, a four-time Body Well alumnae who leads with wisdom and confidence and reminds us how powerful this community can be. ❤️

💛 Tell us about yourself and your family!

Kainaz is originally from Foster City, California and now lives in DC with her husband Gene and their son Asa. She’s a journalist, a big fan of laughter, never turns down a fun, delicious meal with family or friends, and loves getting lost in a good book (check out some of her favorites below).

💪 How did she find FIT4MOM DC?

Kainaz doesn’t remember exactly how she found FIT4MOM DC—it just kind of became part of her world at the right time. But what she does remember is walking into a traditional gym about six months postpartum and immediately feeling like it wasn’t for her. “It felt cold, isolating, and uninviting,” she shared. “That space didn’t understand me.”

When she found FIT4MOM, it was a completely different story. “It felt like a space that knew what I had been through and what I needed.”

🏋️‍♀️ What’s your favorite class?

Kainaz loves Body Boost—our high-intensity interval training class that’s part of the Body Well program. It’s where she feels strong, powerful, and fully supported.

Vacation/Escape

Currently binging Lucy Foley’s murder mysteries. The audio books have incredible voice actors and her writing is both breezy and dense with the depth of her characters. I started with The Paris Apartment and have fallen down the rabbit hole devouring one mystery after another.

Historical Fiction

The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng

Completely engrossing and beautifully written. I won’t do a summary justice but just google the praise it’s received and dive in!

All-Time Favorite

The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson

"As a journalist the depth of reporting -Wilkerson did over 1500 interviews to write about three people during the Great Migration - is tremendous. Her following book Caste is another essential read to understand how social hierarchy is constricted and enforced."

🌟 Fitness milestones + personal wins you’d like to celebrate?

Since her first (of 4! ) Body Well session in 2024, Kainaz has started running again and feels better than ever. “Most of all, I feel great and I’m able to do more things physically with my son,” she said.

Beyond the physical changes, she credits the FIT4MOM DC community for helping her reconnect to herself. “This community played such a big part in me feeling like me again. In fact, it’s a better version of me. I’m stronger, faster, and a better mom and partner.”

We are so glad Kainaz is part of our village. Her strength, humor, and authenticity are gifts to this community—and we’re cheering her on every step of the way.

If you're looking for a good sweat and a good book recommendation you can find Kainaz at NW evening Body Boost classes.
