MEET YOUR VILLAGE: SHEE SHEE

For those of you who don't already know her, we're excited to introduce you to Shee Shee, who, coincidentally is celebrating her first mom-aversary this month. Congratulations 🎉. Last July, she welcomed her daughter Lulu, but her FIT4MOM story started before that in FIT4BABY. We're so grateful she decided to take a chance on that first free class. One instructor described Shee Shee as "kind, calm and always up for coffee" which are the three most important qualities in a momfriend. Keep reading to learn more about another amazing mom in our village.

Who's in Shee Shee's Crew?

In addition to her daughter Lulu, Shee Shee's family includes her partner Noland, and Milton the dog. They currently call the Dupont area home - an especially unique distinction for Shee Shee who doesn't identify any other place as her hometown, pointing out that the 10 years she's spent in DC is the longest she's lived anywhere.

💼 What Does She Do When She's Not Momming or FIT4MOMing?

Shee Shee works full-time—and remotely—as a cybersecurity lawyer for a global company. Her schedule is, in her words, "crazy and unpredictable," which means she's often squeezing Stroller Strides into the middle of a workday and occasionally answering emails during class. (No judgment here—we've all been there.)

When she's not practicing law, Shee Shee sometimes moonlights as a theater stage manager. She's passionate about supporting local arts and community organizations, loves exploring DC's museums, and is always looking for opportunities to host a dinner party or weekend brunch.

How Did She Find FIT4MOM?

Shee Shee discovered FIT4MOM the way many moms do: through a late-night pregnancy Google search.

"I was in my second trimester literally googling prenatal yoga, and everything I found was so unpromising. But when I finally stumbled on FIT4BABY and the free intro class, I was like, why not? And I'm glad I did!"

She went on to tell us: "I've hated group exercise classes all my life, but there is something about how Kelly's FIT4BABY classes got me coming back for more!" She went on to mention that classes felt welcoming, low pressure and supportive; and informative on top of that.

(Now we're blushing ☺️)

No one is more glad that Shee Shee tried that first class than we are, AND we know exactly what it was that kept her coming back - it was the other moms! The magic of FIT4MOM is the moms in our village and Shee Shee brings a lot of that magic.

💪 Favorite FIT4MOM DC Class?

While FIT4BABY will always have a special place in her heart, these days Shee Shee is firmly on Team Stroller Strides.

"FIT4BABY was perfect for me during pregnancy and really helped me feel strong throughout, getting me out of the house for things besides errands and socialization. Nowadays it's Stroller Strides, of course!"

We're big believers that movement during pregnancy and postpartum is about so much more than fitness—it's about community, confidence, and getting out of the house for something that belongs just to you.

Shee Shee's Fitness Philosophy

For Shee Shee, fitness isn't about medals, races, or attendance streaks.

"For me it's all about feeling good, capable, strong as I can, and getting productive sleep."

She aims for the classic 10,000 steps a day goal, although she admits that not wearing a smartwatch—and occasionally forgetting her phone—makes precise tracking a bit challenging.

"Whether it's some stairs, a Stroller Strides class, or a long walk after work, I just like to make sure I get enough movement in my day to stay strong!"

We couldn't agree more. Strong looks different for every mom. 💪

More Wisdom

When we asked if there was anything else she'd like to share with our village, Shee Shee offered a piece of advice she received after giving birth that has stayed with her ever since:

"[A] friend told me after I gave birth, 'You are exactly what your baby needs.' Some days it's a mantra, especially when sitting through the constant unsolicited tips, advice, judgment, comparisons, criticisms, etc. you can receive as a mom."

She also shared that many Chinese postpartum traditions center around caring for and supporting the mother so she can care for her baby.

And honestly, we can't think of a better description of what we're trying to build here: a place where moms are supported, cared for, and reminded that they are already exactly what their babies need.

Thanks for being part of our village, Shee Shee. We're so glad you took a chance on that free FIT4BABY class. ❤️
